Gatlinburg is gearing up for the 12th Annual Halloween Spooktacular, bringing a night of spooky family fun to the community. Set for Tuesday, October 28, the event is a collaboration between the Gatlinburg Recreation Department and Rocky Top Sports World, featuring an evening of festivities, contests, and live performances. The celebration kicks off at 5 p.m. at Rocky Top Sports World, with costume registration beginning at the same time.

According to the City of Gatlinburg's announcement, the festivities will include a plethora of booths hosted by community partners, and featuring the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School marching band will treat attendees to a live performance. In a bid to foster community spirit, contests for the best-dressed individual, handing out candy and the most creative booth decoration will take place. Family-friendly activities like parking lot chalk and a spooky photo booth will also be available for attendees' enjoyment.

Judging for the costume contest, open to participants from pre-K through high school, is slated to start at 6 p.m. Participants of all ages will contend for top honors in creativity and originality in their Halloween attire. To keep the revelers fueled, Food City and Tennessee State Bank are stepping in to provide complimentary hot dogs, snacks, and water throughout the event, which concludes at 8 p.m.

"We are pleased to offer our annual Spooktacular event to the Gatlinburg community to provide a safe, fun, environment for our children," Parks and Recreation Director Laurence Evans told Gatlinburg's official website. The culmination of planning and collaboration, the Spooktacular has previously been recognized with the distinction of a Four-Star Best Special Event Award by the Tennessee Parks and Recreation Association.
