The season of giving is upon us, and the Geauga County Sheriff's Office is not lagging behind in community spirit. Starting November 1, authorities are rallying the community for their Annual Veterans Thanksgiving Food Drive, set to take place until November 10. The initiative focuses on providing non-perishable food items to support veterans and their families during the holidays. In a social media announcement, Sheriff Scott A. Hildenbrand encouraged community participation, ensuring that each contribution leads directly to aiding those who have served.
Donations can be dropped off at the Sheriff's Office, located at 12450 Merritt Road, Chardon, Ohio. The drive has published a wish list, which includes an array of essentials such as pasta, syrup, canned goods, cereal, stuffing mix, and peanut butter, along with hygiene and laundry items; gift cards are also welcomed for added flexibility in meeting the veterans' needs, with the overarching goal being that no veteran is left without a warm meal during a period that emphasizes gratitude and family.
Local residents who wish to contribute to the cause can find more information by calling the Sheriff’s Office directly at 440-279-2070. In a statement on Facebook, Geauga County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Scott A. Hildenbrand stated, "Your generosity helps us ensure every veteran and their family has a warm meal and a reason to give thanks," emphasizing the drive's commitment to local veterans – an initiative that reminds us the holiday spirit combines the joy of celebration with the dignity of giving.
