On the judicial front in Rockwall County, Governor Greg Abbott has made a clear move by appointing J. Brian Williams as Judge of the 503rd Judicial District Court. According to the Office of the Texas Governor, the appointment will commence on December 1 and is slated to continue until December 31, 2026, or when a new appointee takes the reigns, firmly seated and duly sworn in.
Williams isn't a new face on the Rockwall legal scene, currently holding court as the Rockwall County Court at Law Judge and his resume speaks to a history of local engagement- he's been part of the Rockwall County Bar Association as both member and past president, has had hands in the Rockwall Rotary Club, garnered experience as vice president for the Rockwall County Open Space Alliance, and carries the professional weight of membership with the State Bar of Texas along with the Texas County Court at Law Judges Association.
Education forms the backbone of his legal process. Williams comes equipped with a Bachelor of Arts in Government from The University of Texas at Austin and followed up by procuring a Juris Doctor from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, the combination of which suggests a solid blend of theoretical and practical jurisprudence for the local bench.
