Governor Cox kicked off his week with the opening of a special session from his office at the State Capitol, followed by attendance at a BBQ fundraiser, and ended his day with the launch of the One Utah Summit. He’s set to actively participate in the powerhouse event at the Hunter Alumni Conference Center. Henderson is similarly slated to meet with Utah's public lands and rural leadership on Monday. The two aim to focus particularly on Utah's rural development and community initiatives, according to the Utah Governor's Office.
On Tuesday, Gov. Cox will continue to show his support for initiatives that strengthen state communities by hosting a virtual conversation with Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and recognizing individuals with the One Utah Summit Awards at Southern Utah University. Both Cox and Henderson are also scheduled to attend the funeral for the late president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell M. Nelson, marking a moment of reverence amidst a week of engagement.
The following day leaves Henderson's public meetings off the books, while Cox travels east to New York City to attend the Carnegie Summit on National Service and discuss pertinent matters with media leaders. The governor's willingness to openly meet with the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board and News Corporation CEO Robert Thomson could signal strengthening ties between Utah's government and national media outlets.
Concluding the week, Cox will share his insights at the E2 Summit in Deer Valley. Henderson offers her service to the community with a visit to the Nebo School District.
