
In a recent nod to longstanding service within law enforcement, Governor Greg Abbott paid tribute to Live Oak County Sheriff Larry Busby during a ceremony hosted by the Coastal Bend Peace Officers Association (CBPOA), recognizing Busby’s remarkable 44-year career. The event, which also included key figures from the Operation Lone Star Task Force, was held to honor Busby for his unwavering commitment to public safety in Texas, according to his official website.
During the ceremony, the Governor remarked, "Law enforcement officers at the local, state, and federal level do everything in their power to keep our state safe and enforce law and order." He expressed his gratitude toward the collective efforts of these individuals, stating, "I thank our law enforcement officers — and especially Sheriff Busby — for their work, to protect Texans." Abbott also noted the evolving nature of law enforcement tools and strategies, highlighting Sheriff Busby's adaptability and dedication.
Abbott's speech underscored the critical role law enforcement personnel play in maintaining order across the state. He made special mention of initiatives like Operation Lone Star, which he credited with enhancing the safety of Texans and their communities. Notable attendees alongside the Governor and Sheriff Busby included Goliad County Sheriff Roy Boyd, who holds the position of Second Vice President at the CBPOA. The association, along with other, law enforcement officials, came together to pay homage to one of their own—highlighting the collaborative spirit that underpins the law enforcement community in Texas.
