As Grand Prairie gears up to steal the spotlight on the award-winning PBS show, The Day Tripper, locals and fans alike can look forward to the Season 16 opener. Slated for tomorrow, the feature puts Grand Prairie, the city at the heart of it all, on full display. The segment will begin its journey at FireHouse Gastro Park in downtown Grand Prairie and promises to guide viewers through a host of city highlights and attractions. Grand Prairie's FireHouse Gastro Park, a popular Main Street joint, showcased its charm and culinary delights to host Chet Garner and his crew in what was described as a memorable collaboration.
Co-owner Jason Smith shared with Grand Prairie City’s news announcement, “Chet was so present and genuinely interested in our destination and in Grand Prairie as a whole.” He continued, “He made everyone feel special, took time to go behind the scenes, and had great conversations with us. He was down to try everything and put in the work, and if someone comes in and wants to ‘have what Chet had,’ just let us know. We’ll make it happen.” FireHouse is set to host screenings of the episode paired with their brunch menu, going the extra mile to offer the first 25 customers of the day free coffee, courtesy of Visit Grand Prairie.
The episode is not only an appetizing portrayal of local favorites but also serves as a visual tour through Grand Prairie's culture and landmarks. According to a statement obtained by Grand Prairie City’s news, intriguing bits of the city like Zavala's Barbecue, Fire Station #1, the Grand Prairie Farmers Market, and the Uptown Theater are set to make appearances. Furthermore, the show will display Grand Prairie's proud public murals and grant aerial views of major attractions such as EpicCentral's Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, Bolder Adventure Park, and the acclaimed Illuvia show.
