
Last Saturday in Hilo, 19-year-old Junior Salvador of Guam was involved in a large fight that escalated into a violent encounter with police. Salvador allegedly jumped on a police car, damaging it, and assaulted two officers inside, according to the Hawaiʻi Police Department.
The male and female officers sustained injuries from the attack and were treated at Hilo Benioff Medical Center before being released. Police reported that Salvador’s actions included multiple strikes against the officers and resulted in property damage, as reported by the Hawaiʻi Police Department.
Salvador has been charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and first-degree criminal property damage, with bail set at $20,000. He remains in custody pending his initial court appearance on Monday at Hilo District Court.
