Authorities have been working assiduously to untangle the motive behind the incident, while assurances have been disseminated to reassure the public of no lingering danger. As reported by WISN, despite the lack of identified victims, the police emphasize that the community is not believed to be under threat, a statement that simultaneously comforts and unsettles; for what is one to make of violence that arrives so suddenly, unbidden and yet departs leaving behind a silence fraught with unanswered questions?
The investigative progress has yet to lay bare any concrete motives as the suspect has not provided clarity to the rationale of their actions. No ongoing threat to public safety is currently suspected, and criminal charges pertaining to the incident are being forwarded to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s office for review and action, "police said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public and that the community is not believed to be in danger", a message that while comforting on one hand stirs memories of when these very streets echoed with the sounds of danger that no one had anticipated.
