The incident, which unfolded in the 17200 block of W Hardy Road, involved a driver named Daniel Cortez who showed signs of intoxication when officers interacted with him, according to Precinct 4. The signs were severe enough that standardized field sobriety tests were administered, and it was Warner’s scales—not light ones—falling on the side of guilt; he was indeed driving under the influence.
Following the test results, "Daniel Cortez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated," proclaimed Constable Mark Herman in the Precinct 4 announcement. Cortez's bond was promptly set at $100.00 by County Court 6, reflecting the serious yet all-too-common nature of DUI offenses in the area.
