An elderly woman in Harris County lost $7,000 after hiring contractor Nikolas Diaz-Marquez to replace her roof, but he cashed her check and disappeared without completing the work. The incident occurred in late August 2025 and was reported to authorities on Tuesday, as stated by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
Deputies quickly investigated and made contact with Diaz-Marquez, who admitted to taking the money and failing to do the job. He is now wanted by law enforcement on charges of Felony Aggregate Theft from an Elderly Person, as mentioned by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
Constable Mark Herman said, "This suspect took advantage of an elderly victim's trust and hard-earned money. Crimes like this will not be tolerated in our community." According to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 on their Facebook page, his office is asking anyone with information on Diaz-Marquez's whereabouts to contact Constable Herman’s Office Dispatch or local law enforcement.
