Hillsborough County Children's Services' Duffels of Dignity program marks its third anniversary, championing hope and support for those in foster care, according to a recent report on HFCL website. Launched in 2022, the initiative is more than just a campaign for luggage—it's an ongoing effort to uphold the self-worth of young individuals in troubling situations.
The past year has seen substantial community involvement and donations, contributing 1,429 duffels and suitcases, 1,668 clothing items, and 7,102 personal care items from October 2024 through September 2025. This engagement has notched a significant leap from its Humble beginnings, transforming the way local youth in crisis experience transitions and assistance. Further details can be found in the HFCL website.
Moving beyond numbers, the benefit to over 2,000 young lives is the real story, ensuring kids can carry their possessions with dignity, not in trash bags—a simple but profound change in their journeys.
As the Duffels of Dignity program enters its fourth year, Hillsborough County Children’s Services continues to accept donations of new or gently used duffel bags, suitcases, and personal care items. Donations can be dropped off at the department’s administrative office or purchased through the program’s Amazon Wish List. Additional details and drop-off locations are available on the county’s official website.
