An 18-year-old man, identified as Maico Carbajal, was apprehended by deputies near I-4 and North Alexander Street, following a precision-led felony traffic stop. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported that Carbajal had an outstanding warrant for serious firearms offenses including the possession of an operable machine gun and as a minor in possession of a firearm.
Carbajal's capture was facilitated by the Sheriff's Office Aviation Section, providing aerial assistance that ensured his arrest was carried out without incident. Following the apprehension, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle leading to the recovery of a firearm and a Glock 19 Upper. With the license canceled, suspended, or revoked, they found Carbajal driving, further compounding his legal troubles.
He now faces additional charges for carrying a concealed firearm and driving with a license that was not in good standing. These new charges stack onto the pre-existing concerns regarding his alleged possession and permitting a machine gun to be within arm's reach of a minor.
