In a late-night sweep of petty theft, police have apprehended one juvenile after a spree of unlocked vehicle entries plagued a quiet Hingham neighborhood. The Hingham Police Department's social media account reported that around 60 vehicles were found entered upon, with an assortment of items taken, ranging from a laptop to loose change.

The incident unfolded after a resident on Pilgrim Road spotted two individuals allegedly dipping into their driveway cars around midnight. A collective response from Hingham police, Norwell Police, and a K9 unit ensued, corralling the suspects with a perimeter supported by a police drone. The technologically-aided chase led to apprehension of one suspect, while the other remains at large. A myriad of stolen goods were noted, with the exception of certain vehicles which appeared to have been sifted through without any items removed.

Culminating in an arrest, a 17-year-old male from Holbrook, MA now faces several counts including Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle, Disturbing the Peace and Conspiracy. "He was released to his parents to be arraigned at Hingham Juvenile Court at a future date," the Hingham Police Department's post read. In view of the suspect's age, his identity is withheld, hearkening to protocols surrounding juvenile offenders.
