A man in his late 20s died in a hit-and-run accident yesterday evening while riding his bicycle on Hodges Boulevard near the entrance to the Cape House apartments. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) and cited by First Coast News, the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 4400 block of Hodges Boulevard when the cyclist was hit by a dark-colored SUV that left the scene.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the man deceased upon arrival. This incident marks the 138th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the eighth involving a bicyclist, as per reported by News4Jax.
