Holly Springs has more to talk about than just the changing leaves this autumn.
Meet Cheryl Bach, a local woman who, after 31 years of marriage, has finally struck it rich with a $1 million scratch-off lottery ticket win. Bach and her husband can now check off a honeymoon from their to-do list—a celebration they've waited over three decades for. Speaking of the life-changing moment, Bach told ABC11, "I'm going to take a vacation with my husband that will finally be our honeymoon." The ticket that led to her windfall was purchased at Harris Teeter on Village Walk Drive in Holly Springs. Bach had to don her glasses and snap a pic to prove the win to her incredulous spouse. "I had to put my glasses on to make sure I was seeing it right," she recalled in an account provided to WRAL.
The winning scratch-off game, dubbed the $10 Million Spectacular, certainly lived up to its name for the Bachs. Having debuted in December 2023 offering several hefty prizes, the game had everyone on their toes until the last $10 million prize was claimed, heralding the end of the game, as reported by CBS17. Bach made the drive to the lottery headquarters and opted for the lump sum payout, walking away with $430,514 after taxes—ample funds for that delayed honeymoon and a few bills besides.
