According to a Facebook post from the department, Detective Michael Everett observed suspected drug activity on Main and Spring Streets during an unrelated investigation.

While Detective Everett monitored the suspected activity, other detectives, including Daniel Reardon, Anthony Brach, James Parnell, and Thomas Spafford, arrived to assist. During the operation, they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the area and seized 12 bags of heroin and fentanyl. The team then went to an alley near 305 Main Street where they encountered Felix Gonzalez, who attempted to discard drug paraphernalia.

The suspect, 40-year-old Felix Gonzalez of Holyoke, was found with 52 bags of heroin and fentanyl concealed inside a modified vape pen, along with drug paraphernalia, including a crack pipe. Authorities also discovered that Gonzalez had an outstanding arrest warrant from Holyoke District Court, and he was taken into custody by the detectives.

Upon concluding the operation, the police department reported that a total of 65 bags of heroin, equivalent to 6.5 bundles, and $145 in cash were seized. Gonzalez faces multiple charges, including distribution of a Class A drug, possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession of a Class A drug, and the outstanding warrant.
