
Two boaters stranded about two and a half miles off Kalaeloa, Oahu, were rescued by the Honolulu Fire Department last Friday after their 21-foot vessel experienced engine trouble. Honolulu Fire Department received the 911 call at around 5:24 p.m. and dispatched five units with 15 responders to the scene.
The department’s rescue boat reached the disabled vessel at 6:24 p.m., confirming that both individuals were unharmed. The crew safely towed the boat back to shore, and no injuries were reported among rescuers or the boaters, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The stranded boaters and their vessel were safely towed back to land, arriving at the Sand Island boat ramp at 8:36 p.m. The Honolulu Fire Department’s coordinated response helped prevent the situation from worsening. Both boaters were returned to shore without injury.
