Houston may reach a new heat record this October, with several days expected to reach 90 degrees or higher. A cold front midweek will bring cooler temperatures, but Tuesday is forecasted to reach around 91 degrees, slightly higher than Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Houston has seen warmer autumns in recent years, with only five Octobers since 2000 having 10 or more days above 90 degrees. This October has already had 13 days above 90 degrees. As the Houston Chronicle reports, "last year set the modern benchmark: 18 days at or above 90 degrees, nearly 60% of the month." A weak cold front on Wednesday will bring temperatures into the lower 80s and lower humidity, with heat returning later in the week.
A weak cold front is moving into Houston. "Tuesday's cold front could also bring a few lucky neighborhoods a brief spotty shower or downpour, mainly during the afternoon or evening," as mentioned by Houston Chronicle. Rain chances increase later in the week with another cold front. On Saturday, there is a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
