
Two people died in a crash on the I-10 Katy Freeway near Taylor Street early Friday morning. Houston police said a speeding Tesla hit a Nissan from behind, causing the Nissan to catch fire. According to Click2Houston, both people in the Nissan died at the scene and could not escape the vehicle.
All inbound lanes of I-10 at the Taylor Street exit were closed for several hours following the crash and reopened around 6:36 a.m. An HPD lieutenant said the victims were a married couple who had just left the gym before the crash, as reported by ABC13. The Tesla reportedly kept moving after the initial impact, striking barriers on both sides of the freeway before stopping.
A woman driving a Tesla has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a crash in Houston that killed two people in a Nissan. Police said the Nissan was on fire when first responders arrived, and the couple inside were found dead after the fire was put out. The Tesla’s passenger was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
