
A 21-year-old man, Angel Ortiz, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting on Bonner Drive. On Tuesday around 9 p.m., Houston police responded to 8429 Bonner Drive after reports of a shooting. Officers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to the City of Houston news release, investigators learned that Ortiz and the victim were speaking before Ortiz allegedly picked up a rifle, pointed it, lowered it, charged it, and then fired. Ortiz left the scene but later returned and was taken into custody.
Ortiz admitted to firing the weapon, and after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he was charged with murder. He was booked into the Harris County Jail. A booking photo was released, and the case report number is #128316725. The investigation remains ongoing.
