A Houston man has been charged with the murder of 21-year-old Julian Comeaux in connection with a shooting in February. The suspect, 38-year-old Tristin Terrel Williams, was identified in part through a Croc sandal left at the scene, according to Click2Houston

The shooting happened in Midtown Houston on Hadley Street near Bagby Street, as reported by KHOU. Police said Julian Comeaux and his friends confronted a person who was breaking into a vehicle. During the confrontation, the suspect, identified as Williams, allegedly shot Comeaux and another 24-year-old man, who survived. Investigators said DNA taken from an abandoned Croc sandal at the scene matched Williams. Records show Williams has five previous arrests in Harris County for burglary of a motor vehicle.

Julian Comeaux was fatally shot in Midtown Houston. “I just want justice for my baby. I just don’t understand it. No mother should have to lose a child,” his mother, Larisha Sellers, told Click2Houston. Witnesses identified Williams in a photo lineup as the suspected shooter. Police said they saw him with a gun before he surrendered, and two firearms were later found in an attic during a search. His bond was set at $200,000. A witness said Comeaux had jumped on Williams’ back before the shooting. Midtown Houston recorded 46 reported car break-ins along Bagby Street last year.
