Authorities have arrested 48-year-old Octavio Garcia Cruz and charged him with murder in connection with a shooting at an apartment complex at 4603 Sherwood Lane on July 5 around 10:50 p.m. The shooting resulted in the death of 35-year-old Angel Chavira, according to the City of Houston.
On Wednesday, HPD's Gang Division and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Cruz. Authorities are still looking for a second suspect, seen in surveillance wearing a Barcelona t-shirt. The victim was sitting outside his apartment with friends when Cruz and the second suspect approached him before he was shot, as reported by the City of Houston.
Cruz has been charged by the 184th Criminal District Court, and his booking photo has been released. Authorities are looking for a second suspect seen in a video from August 27 before a shooting that killed Chavira, who was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
