Houston authorities are currently undertaking an inquiry into a tragic incident that unfolded early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of one woman and the injury of a man. The shooting, first reported around 2:50 a.m. at 8150 Southwest Freeway (South Interstate Highway 59), is under meticulous scrutiny by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division.
Officials have yet to disclose the identity of the female victim, with confirmation pending from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The injured male was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition, according to the City of Houston.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Jimenez and Detective C. Bowling stated that, in response to the initial call, officers found both victims at 8704 South Gessner Drive, suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department announced the woman was deceased at the scene, while the man received immediate medical attention.
The inquiry unearthed that an altercation in a parking lot at the aforementioned freeway address preceded the shooting. Witnesses claimed, the victims tried to leave when an unidentified male opened fire on their vehicle, striking them both. The Houston Police Department is actively soliciting any information that could lead to a better understanding of this case or the apprehension of the perpetrator, encouraging the public to reach out to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
