Ariel Perry Stewart, 21, was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter after a crash last Friday, that killed Bianca Romero, 22, and her boyfriend Christian Rangel. Police said Stewart was speeding east on the Katy Freeway in a gray Tesla Model Y when it hit the victims’ Nissan, causing it to spin and catch fire. Romero and Rangel died in the crash. Stewart was arrested at the scene and had a 23-year-old passenger who survived with minor injuries. Stewart appeared in court on Monday.
The Romero family is grieving the loss of Bianca Romero and Christian Rangel. Valsta Romero, Bianca's sister, said, "I feel very sad, very broken," and, "Life is not fair; it's really not. I want justice for my sister and Christian, because they were nice people, and they deserve justice," according to Click2Houston. Bianca had been saving to open a coffee shop and start a family, as shown by baby clothes found in her apartment.
Glendy Romero, Bianca's sister, told KHOU how she used the 'Find My Location' app to look for Bianca and came across the crash scene. "And we went and we saw all the freeway blocked, and it was just crazy," she said. Bianca had recently moved into an apartment with Christian and had planned to host family for the holidays. "She just ordered a table for Thanksgiving; she just moved into her apartment, and she was like, 'My table's ready, because I want to spend Thanksgiving with y'all, and I want y'all to come to my apartment,'" Glendy said.
