Swedish retail giant Ikea has announced plans for a second Houston location in Webster, set to open by summer 2026 at Kimco Realty Corp.'s Center at Baybrook. The 93,000-square-foot store, estimated to cost $16.5 million, will repurpose former retail space with design led by Dallas-based Wares Malcomb, as reported by KHOU.
This new store marks Ikea’s first Houston expansion in 33 years and will join retailers like Dick's Sporting Goods and Hobby Lobby. The project aims to reshape the shopping landscape near Baybrook Mall, though details remain preliminary and subject to change.
Ikea is set to open a new store in Webster, Texas, expanding its presence in the state. Ikea U.S. CEO Javier Quiñones said, "We are thrilled to continue our expansion across Texas to bring the dream of a better home within reach for more people across the country," and added, "The opening of Ikea Webster highlights our commitment to bring Ikea closer to the many people and make it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions." The Webster location will include space-saving furniture, a zone for design consultations, and a "Swedish food experience," as per Chron. The store is scheduled to open in summer 2026, adding to Ikea’s existing five full-size locations and several pick-up and order points in Texas.
