A serious collision between a motorcycle and a car in Fort Collins on the morning of October 26 has triggered a full investigation by local authorities. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of Rutgers Avenue and South College Avenue, involved a 2009 Ducati 696 motorcycle and a 1999 Subaru Legacy, as reported by the City of Fort Collins.
The Fort Collins Police were called to the scene just after 11 am, discovering both vehicles and their sole occupants. The motorcyclist, who suffered serious injuries, was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. The collision was severe enough to call in the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team, specialists in Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling. At this stage, the CRASH Team is examining all aspects of the crash, including the possibility of speed or impairment playing a factor, as cited by the City of Fort Collins.
Traffic on Southbound College Avenue, which leads to the crash site, was closed from Prospect Road to Rutgers Avenue for some time as authorities processed the accident scene. Local business access, however, was accommodated during this disruption. Sergeant David Lindsay, overseeing the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team, stated, "Our team is committed to thoroughly investigating this incident and providing answers for the families affected," as per the City of Fort Collins.
