Abdul Robinson Jr., the brother of Jacksonville rapper Hakeem “Ksoo” Robinson, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the 2020 murder of Charles “Lil Buck” McCormick Jr. The plea deal led to the dismissal of his original first-degree murder charge, according to Action News Jax. The case involved the shooting outside an Arlington strip mall, which investigators said was connected to a diss track mocking Hakeem Robinson’s half-brother.
Hakeem Robinson and Leroy Whitaker, known as ATK Scotty, were both convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison earlier this month. Dominique “Butta” Barner, identified by prosecutors as the getaway driver, testified during the trial that the group’s plan, which included Robinson Jr., was to target McCormick, as reported by News4Jax. Barner said the attack was motivated by a dispute over a diss track directed at Willie Addison, a previous gun violence victim and the stepson of Abdul Robinson Sr.
In his testimony, Barner stated that the group had driven by McCormick’s home to plan the killing, linking the crime to tensions fueled by gang conflicts and a diss track targeting Robinson’s stepbrother, as mentioned by First Coast News. Prosecutors argued that these factors motivated McCormick’s murder, with evidence suggesting Robinson Jr. played a direct role in the premeditated act. With recent sentencing, the case nears its conclusion, though Hakeem Robinson and Whitaker plan to appeal their convictions.
