Janesville residents and commuters should prepare for travel adjustments as construction begins on Hawthorne Avenue starting tomorrow. The project will impact the section between N. Fremont Street and Hawthorne Park Drive, where crews will be reconstructing the pavement as part of the City's street rehabilitation program, according to a recent announcement by the City of Janesville.
During the renovation period, which is scheduled to continue through October 23, Hawthorne Avenue will be closed to through traffic, making alternate routes necessary. Residents living on or near Hawthorne Avenue should note a temporary change to trash and recycling collection, as carts will need to be placed out on Sunday evening. City contractors will conduct early Monday morning pickups to help maintain regular service during construction.
To help manage the disruptions associated with a major roadway project, the City has put measures in place to keep residents informed and prepared. Those seeking more information or wishing to discuss specific concerns are encouraged to contact the Engineering Division at (608) 755-3162.
