In the midst of community challenges, Jefferson County Commissioner Rachel Zenzinger has shared a personal stress-coping formula and encouraged residents to actively engage in positive activities across various aspects of life. The formula, rooted in childhood wisdom, advises people to tend to their body, mind, spirit, job, and others as a strategy for fostering a positive mindset in the face of adversity.
Zenzinger's approach, which she discussed in a Jeffco news release, suggests starting with physical health by utilizing the services of the Jefferson County Public Health department. From vaccine appointments, home radon testing, to substance abuse support, JCPH offers comprehensive health programs. For mental stimulation, the Jefferson County Public Library awaits, providing extensive resources and programs like author visits, story times, and technology classes for all ages.
For the spirit, the county's parks and open spaces are a balm, with places like Deer Creek Canyon Park or South Table Mountain Park offering an escape into nature's embrace. Zenzinger noted, "nothing is more uplifting than being surrounded by nature and enjoying breathtaking views," as per Jefferson County, demonstrating the restorative power of the environment.
The formula extends to professional development, wherein Zenzinger points to the Jeffco Business & Workforce Center. Here, individuals can access job listings, career counseling, and training assistance, resources essential for those entering or re-entering the workforce. In addition, giving back through voluntary service is suggested as a means to do "something good for others," with varied roles available through Jeffco's Volunteer program.
