Jefferson County is on the hunt for a new Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board Director. The county commissioners have put out a call for applicants interested in serving for the vacated District N seat, according to Jefferson County. With the deadline set for November 4, time is ticking for residents of the area to throw their hats in the ring.
The specific geographic area this board member will represent spans the western edge of the county, stretching into parts as far east as Littleton. Qualifying candidates, who must reside within these boundaries, will be vetted by the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners. The final decision is set to be locked in by a resolution on December 9.
RTD's governance structure consists of a 15-member board that is publicly elected to oversee the provision of bus and rail services throughout the Denver metro area. Directors are elected for four-year terms and are tasked with representing both the transit riders and residents of their designated service areas.
