The Tennessee Recreation & Parks Association (TRPA) conference took place last week at the MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, where Johnson City Parks and Recreation received four awards. According to the City of Johnson’s official announcement, the 74th annual event brought together parks and recreation professionals from across the state for training, networking, and recognition.

Johnson City Parks and Recreation Director April Norris expressed pride in the department’s accomplishments and acknowledged the contributions of staff and volunteers who supported the conference.

The department earned several honors, including the Ethnic Minority Interest Section Donald Stanton Award presented to the Langston Centre Community Health Task Force, the Municipal/County Interest Section Robert Horsley Award recognizing Kevin Mast, the Special Events Award for the Candy Land Board Game at King Commons Park, and the Innovative Program Award for the Flight Simulation Experience.
