The Maui Police Department is calling on residents to take a stand against domestic violence by joining their Domestic Violence Awareness Month Coffee Event. Scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Starbucks Puʻunēnē, located at 127 Puʻunēnē Avenue in Kahului, this gathering seeks to foster community engagement, provide valuable resources and promote healthy, violence-free relationships.
In an effort to bolster local awareness and prevention, Maui PD, in collaboration with partner agencies, is setting up an approachable environment for conversation over coffee. Announced on their social media page, the police department believes that by coming together, the community can help prevent domestic violence and, indeed transform Maui into "a kinder, safer place."
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with officers and community advocates who are solely invested in addressing the needs of those affected by domestic abuse. Resources on hand aim to inform victims of potential aid and guide them on a path to recovery and empowerment.
