A man has been arrested in connection with a theft of city property, reported the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. On October 24, deputies initiated an investigation after a report that equipment worth around $5,000 was taken from a city event in Jurupa Valley.

Based on the victim's account, the theft occurred on October 23, and despite a search, the equipment was missing, leading to the involvement of law enforcement. Surveillance footage led to the identification of 40-year-old Efren Samano as the suspect, who appeared to take the items and leave without making any attempts to find the owner of the equipment, an alleged act caught on video.

Samano, a Jurupa Valley resident, was arrested on October 25 after deputies located him on Limonite Avenue, not far from where the theft took place. The stolen equipment has been recovered and returned to its rightful owner, the city of Jurupa Valley.

Charged with grand theft, Samano is currently being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center. Authorities have underscored that the investigation is still active and encouraged anyone with information to reach out to Sergeant Brent Ruiz of the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station. Meanwhile, the Sheriff's Department highlighted their dedication to "Community Policing," urging locals to report criminal activity and maintain the security of the area.
