Kannapolis residents, prepare to say goodbye to the bags for a little while as the city initiates its annual loose leaf collection period commencing next Monday. According to the City of Kannapolis, constituents are to arrange their leaves at the curb or along the ditch line, ensuring they're in a line parallel to the street for efficient collection.

Timing is key, so homeowners should have their leaves out by 7 a.m. on their designated day. It’s important, though, to keep the leaves unadulterated; no mixing with limbs, other yard waste, or any household refuse like gum balls, gravel, and glass. If you've got your leaves in garbage containers or blended with unwanted materials, the city's trucks will roll right by.

Vehicle placement matters too as the leaf collection machinery needs clear passage. In an effort to make the process smoother for everyone, the trucks need unfettered access, or the leaves will be left untouched. And, of course, like many city services, they've got some planned days off; there'll be no leaf collection on Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day. Bear in mind, until next Monday and after January 15, leaf collection reverts to a bag-only affair, with residents required to bag their leaves and place them at the curb.

The city's got you covered. You can check out your schedule on the Kannapolis government website or, for tech-savvy residents, there's also the option to download their free CARTology app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. By keeping tabs, you can ensure not to miss the window and keep your yard leaf-free with the city's help.
