KFD highlighted this year's Fire Prevention Week theme from October 5-11, stating that they aim to guide residents on "making smart choices when buying, charging, and recycling lithium ion batteries" as these actions are crucial to preventing fires.
According to a post on the fire department's Facebook page, there's an urging, to spread awareness about the possible dangers associated with the incorrect use of lithium-ion batteries. As part of the initiative, KFD is directing citizens to visit FPW.Org for more educational resources. Every year, mishaps involving these batteries present a consistent threat, instances of which range from minor overheat to catastrophic household blazes. This hazard has only grown more prominent as the prevalence of battery-powered devices escalates in our daily lives.
