Tragedy struck on Louisiana Highway 384 near the Black Bayou Bridge when a man lost his life in a car crash. According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, on Sunday, Eric Linden, a 45-year-old resident of Lake Charles, was involved in a single-vehicle accident. Reports show that Linden's 2002 Chevrolet Silverado collided with the crossing arm before it overturned, leading to his serious injuries.
Authorities responded to the scene just before 11:00 a.m., but Linden's condition quickly worsened, despite being rushed to the local hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, a detail that may have influenced his chances of surviving the violent flip of his vehicle. The incident is still under active investigation, with a routine toxicology sample taken from Linden submitted for analysis, as standard procedure in such events calls for, as reported by the Louisiana State Police Troop D.
The incident serves as a somber reminder about the importance of car safety. Troopers have since reinforced the message, stressing the need to adhere to traffic laws and the crucial step of buckling up before driving. "The most effective way to protect yourself while in a vehicle," the Louisiana State Police Troop D stated, "It can reduce the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a crash, and it takes only seconds to do so."
