Līhu‘e residents can expect a series of lane closures beginning October 13 as Hawaiian Telecom rolls out fiber optic upgrades to its infrastructure. According to a press release from the Department of Public Works, Puaole Street, Malae Street, Alohi Street, Uluhui Street, Ka‘ana Street, and Palai Street will see single-lane contraflow traffic patterns and full lane closures.
The construction, which is to be conducted weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will be beset by flaggers and signs intended to manage the flow of local traffic and will continue through November 15, weather permitting. These changes are necessary, Hawaiian Telecom's contractor HP Communications asserts, for the installation of a new fiber optic system aimed at improving communications services within the area. Providing access to properties along the affected roads, Hawaiian Telecom, and HP Communications urge the community to adhere to traffic controls and signs.
Driving through Līhu‘e? Allow extra time for anticipated delays, as detours and lane closures will likely impact the usual flow of traffic. Awareness of the surroundings and patience will be key for drivers navigating these areas during the installation period.
For additional details or questions on the construction, Hawaiian Telecom points to Tony Curley of HP Communications. He can be reached at 951-217-5808 or [email protected], for firsthand information on how the work might affect your commute or access to your property.
