A woman sustained critical injuries earlier this month in what police are characterizing as a double-vehicle hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles, and authorities are now appealing to the public for assistance. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Central Traffic Division detectives are searching for two drivers who left the scene of the collision that resulted in severe trauma to the pedestrian. The incident occurred on October 5, 2025, when, according to the LAPD newsroom, a female pedestrian was crossing the street at the intersection of Central Avenue and 14th Place and was struck by a dark-colored Ford Explorer.
The first vehicle, described as a 2018-2025 model Ford Explorer, was traveling south on Central Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian. As reported by the LAPD, the collision hurled the woman in a southwesterly direction before landing on the roadway, where, while on the ground, a blue compact SUV believed to be a 2007-2011 Honda CR-V, which was also traveling south on Central Avenue, struck her a second time. Both drivers, responsible for inflicting life-threatening injuries, failed to adhere to the law by neither stopping to identify themselves nor rendering aid to the victim.
Following the collision, paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene and transported the critically injured woman to a local hospital for treatment. The LAPD newsroom emphasizes the vital responsibility of drivers to stop, assist, and provide their information should they be involved in an accident. Furthermore, footage of the incident has been made available by the LAPD on their YouTube channel, hoping it may encourage witnesses to come forward.
In a continuing effort to resolve this incident, the LAPD has mentioned that the city offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification and capture of hit-and-run perpetrators.
