Las Vegas commuters should expect delays as the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) begins a pavement rehabilitation project on Sunset Road. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction between Las Vegas Boulevard and Eastern Avenue from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday, according to Nevada Department of Transportation release. The project, scheduled through November 7, will also include intermittent left-turn lane closures along the corridor.

The $12.9 million federally funded project involves milling and paving, utility lowering, median island replacement, and upgrades to striping and electrical systems. These improvements aim to extend the roadway’s service life and enhance safety. Vehicles wider than 12 feet are advised to use alternate routes due to lane restrictions.

The Nevada Department of Transportation stated that multiple lanes in both directions will remain open during daytime hours to help manage traffic near the airport connector. Drivers are urged to use caution in work zones and consider detour routes when possible. Updates on lane closures and restrictions are available through Waze in partnership with Nevada Department of Transportation.
