Las Vegas was abuzz this month as local heroes swapped their usual uniforms for jerseys and hit the hardwood. On October 4, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department faced off against the local fire department in a friendly yet competitive "Battle of the Badges" basketball championship, hosted at Western High School. In an event that aimed to bolster community spirit and showcase the camaraderie between two pivotal city services, it was the police team that emerged victorious, beating the firefighters with a final score of 79-63.
The LVMPD posted on social media, "Thank you to everyone who came out to Western High School to support our community heroes on the court on Oct 4. It was an great community event!" This year's title marked another notch in the belt for the police team in this ongoing annual series.
Acknowledging the successful collaboration behind the scenes, the LVMPD's post went on to thank "our community partners, event organizers, and everyone who helped make this day possible."
