Leslie Henley has been appointed as the Judicial District Manager (JDM) for Judicial District 12 in Cumberland County, an announcement coming from the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). Starting Oct. 27, Henley is now tasked with leading community supervision operations, an area which includes overseeing 76 probation/parole officers and staff managing over 2,100 individuals under various forms of post-incarceration supervision. This move marks Henley's continued ascent within the NCDAC ranks.
"Leslie Henley’s steady rise in Community Supervision is a testament to her dedication and drive to change lives for the better and build safer communities," Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction, said in a statement on the NCDAC website. Henley, who began her career in 2012, has worked across multiple districts and has garnered several certifications, most notably in Controls, Restraints and Defensive Techniques (CRDT) and Firearms.
In the announcement shared by the NCDAC, it was also highlighted that Henley transferred to Cumberland County in District 12 in 2022, where she continued her role as an intake chief probation/parole officer and made contributions as an active member of the Cumberland County Reentry Council Board. Prior to her latest promotion, Henley served as Assistant Judicial District Manager for District 11, aiding Harnett, Lee, and Johnston counties in her capacity.
A Lumberton native and Fayetteville State University alum, Henley's educational background in criminal justice complements her practical experience. Alongside her role in supervisory contact committees, she has completed several leadership training courses, including PEAK, Leading at all Levels (LAAL) and the NCDAC Summer Master Leadership Program. Tracy K. Lee, chief deputy secretary for Community Supervision, expressed confidence in Henley's appointment stating, "Her hard work and commitment have prepared her well for this management position. I know she’ll do a great job," as mentioned on the NCDAC website.
