Timothy Jaekel, a Lincoln police officer, stands accused of sexually abusing multiple family members who were minors at the time, with allegations stretching over several years, as reported by KCRA. The victims, aged between 8 and 16 during the periods of reported abuse, have brought grave concerns to light, considering Jaekel's ties to youth programs in the community.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, following a complaint received on June 23 that initiated the investigation, arrested Jaekel and initially set no bail, but a court later allowed for his release on a $250,000 bond, which he posted, ABC10 reported. The allegations include a long-standing pattern of inappropriate touching and, in one instance, a request for nude photographs from one of the young victims while she was still a minor.
The Lincoln Police Department confirmed that Jaekel, who had been involved in the Lincoln P.A.L. nonprofit aimed at fostering positive relationships between police officers and youths, participated in a community event involving law enforcement and children as recently as 2023. In a brief encounter at Jaekel's residence, a person answered the door but declined to comment before closing it, as obtained by KCRA.
Sgt. Amar Gandhi of the Sacramento Sheriff's Office emphasized the gravity of the situation, describing sexual abuse as "probably the most violating act you could do on someone else" and commended the bravery of the victims, remarking that "the courage displayed by those four victims might encourage that other victim to come forward," according to a statement in an ABC10 interview. The Sheriff's Office is urging any other potential victims to come forward, while the Lincoln Police Department has assured their cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
