According to FOXLA, the blaze, which produced a significant plume of smoke visible for miles, began just before 7 a.m. at a residence located at the 2400 block of Via Sonoma. Aerial footage from SkyFOX showcased firefighters working diligently to halt the spread of flames to adjacent homes.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported having the fire under control by 7:55 a.m., with no civilians found inside during a thorough search of the property. However, the fire inflicted a partial collapse of the home, but, fortunately, no injuries were reported. ABC7 includes details of massive flames that could be seen erupting from the building's floor-to-ceiling windows.
KTLA, which caught the incident live thanks to reporter Rich Prickett spotting the fire en route to another story, described the residence as "a total loss." The report, outlined on KTLA's website, noted that the fire initially spread from a detached garage to the primary structure of the home. Sparks and debris were observed jumping over a wall separating the burning home from the next, igniting a stairway and prompting firefighters to use neighboring driveways to prevent further spread. The aerial coverage showed that by 7:30 a.m., firefighters were managing the situation, with lighter smoke signals indicative of the fire's diminishment.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, favorable weather conditions were noted for assisting in the firefighting efforts.
