A significant collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle has prompted the closure of East 6th Avenue in both directions, according to the Aurora Police Department. The incident occurred last evening around 7:40 p.m., between Toledo and Vaughn streets, leading to a considerable disruption for motorists in the area. In a social media update, the Aurora Police Department detailed the urgent response to the scene where two individuals were found with varying degrees of injuries.
Taken to local hospitals as a result of the crash, one of the individuals sustained life-threatening injuries while being transported, with another enduring serious but non-life-threatening injuries. As reported by the Aurora Police Department, no information has been forthcoming regarding the possible factors contributing to the crash, leaving residents to speculate on the circumstances leading to such a devastating outcome.
The department's Traffic Investigations Unit has taken the lead on the ongoing probe into the incident. Authorities have not yet offered a timeframe for when the affected stretch of 6th Avenue might reopen, adding stress to the daily commute of those who travel that thoroughfare. With 6th Avenue off-limits for an indefinite period, the police have advised drivers to consider Colfax or Alameda avenues for alternate east-west routes in the interim.
