A somber mood befell the north Charlotte community as a shooting at a local business claimed the life of one man yesterday evening. The incident, which occurred in the vicinity of Beatties Ford Road and Sunset Boulevard around 7 p.m., has prompted an intensive investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. WCNC reported that police discovered a male victim at the scene with a fatal gunshot wound.
The business, nestled within the Stewart Creek Crossing shopping center, became an impromptu crime scene as first responders unsuccessfully attempted to save the man's life. An official indicated that the man shot may have been patronizing the Wingstop within the strip mall at the time of the ill-fated event. WBTV noted that the victim was not an employee of the establishment and that the shooting was "possibly" the result of a robbery attempt.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of violence, the identity of the deceased remains withheld pending further investigation. Officials have yet to publicly identify a suspect, and no arrests have been reported in connection to the shooting. WCCB Charlotte noted the ongoing nature of the homicide investigation and reiterated the police's appeal for information.
Authorities are urging anyone with details pertinent to the case to come forward. Interactions with investigators from the homicide department are encouraged and can be initiated by dialing 704-432-TIPS. Additionally, anonymous tips can be rendered through Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, or via an online platform.
