A man was killed in a shooting incident in South Sacramento late Friday night, sparking a homicide investigation by local authorities. According to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department, officers hurried to the 7700 block of 51st Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire around 11:50 p.m., as obtained by ABC10.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered an adult male with at least one gunshot wound and though they provided emergency aid the man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, no suspect information has been disseminated to the public at the current juncture of the investigation. KCRA reports that the sacramento police department is still gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in an effort to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal event.
The Glen Elder neighborhood, which has now been marked by this violent act, is being combed by Crime Scene Investigators and Homicide Detectives for clues, the Sacramento Police Department detailed in a social media post that also echoed the absence of information regarding potential suspects responsible for the shooting, and the department is urging the community to come forth with any pertinent information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. The identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin, will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, as mentioned in the post available on the Sacramento Police Department's Facebook page.
