Early morning in Charlotte’s Eastway Division was disrupted by violence on Saturday, resulting in the death of a man on Wembley Drive. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) confirmed that officers were summoned shortly before 2:00 a.m. in response to an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim with a life-threatening injury, who was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC. A homicide investigation is currently underway, with the area of the 1300 block on Wembley Drive being the central focus of the inquiry.
The CMPD's Homicide Unit detectives arrived to take over the investigation, and a Crime Scene Search team was dispatched to meticulously collect physical evidence. According to the official CMPD report, support was present from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC. The details are sparse, but the investigation is said to be active and ongoing as authorities are looking to unravel the events that led to the homicide.
