A man is currently in the hospital after being shot at a north Phoenix gas station on Monday night, as detailed in a report by azfamily.com. The incident took place around 10 p.m. near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Greenway Road. First responders found the victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound, and he was swiftly transported to a hospital, where he has been reported to be stabilized.
Following the shooting, Phoenix Police observed a male juvenile trying to quickly leave the scene. In an effort to take him into custody, they used a "less lethal" tool. Despite having a firearm on his person, detectives have concluded that he was not the gunman. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, a second individual linked to the juvenile is believed to have been on the property at the time and remains at large.
The juvenile was referred to the Juvenile Court Center for weapons violations, as stated by azfamily.com. Local law enforcement is actively continuing to work on leads in hopes of locating and arresting the person responsible for the shooting.
Police have not released much information on the suspect, whom they are still seeking. The identity of the injured man has not been made public, but updates on his condition suggest that, while critical, he is receiving ongoing treatment. Residents in the Phoenix area are encouraged to stay alert and provide any information that might assist detectives in their investigation. "Detectives determined he was not the shooter, and a second suspect remains outstanding. Both were seen on the property together," police said in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix.
