A man was killed in a car crash following a police chase that stretched from Baytown to Chambers County. According to Click2Houston, the incident began last night when the driver of a BMW was spotted by Baytown police driving recklessly. Despite attempts by the police to stop him on SH-146 near Alexander, the driver sped away, igniting a high-speed chase.
The pursuit continued with officers losing sight of the vehicle multiple times before it entered Chambers County. It was here that Chambers County Sheriff's Office assumed control of the chase. In a tragic turn of events, the driver crashed head-on into another car on Crystal Boulevard, as reported by Click2Houston. He was ejected from his car and pronounced dead at the scene.
KHOU noted that two other individuals, a man and a woman from the struck vehicle, were taken to the hospital with injuries but are expected to recover. The crash caused both northbound and southbound lanes of SH 146 to shut down, leading to traffic advisories directing motorists to use Grand Parkway as an alternate route. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the reason behind the chase and subsequent collision.
