The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported the death of inmate Nathan P. Rosas, 28, from Maple Grove, Minnesota, following a fall at the Washington County Jail. According to the Washington County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office's Facebook post, Rosas intentionally jumped from a top-tier railing in the adult pod on Tuesday.
He was taken to Froedtert Medical Center in Wauwatosa and placed on life support but died later that afternoon. The East Central Wisconsin Sheriffs' Investigative Team, led by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.
At the time of his death, Rosas was being held on a $50,000 cash bond related to a domestic violence case, facing charges that included 1st Degree Reckless Injury and Aggravated Battery.
The public announcement of his death was delayed to allow time for notifying family members living out of state. Authorities have not released additional details while the investigation continues, including whether mental health or facility conditions played a role in the incident.
